How To Submit Your Sitemap To Google Search Engine

If you have been following the previous tutorial, on how to submit your website or blog to google webmaster you will discover that even though you have added your website or blog to search engine, it has not started appearing on google search engine but in the course of this post am going to be sharing a topic on how to submit your sitemap to google search engine.

To submit your sitemap means to submit all your website or blog content to google search console so that your website or blog content will be visible to search engine when a user type a keyword that has a related content on your website or blog, until your website sitemap has been submitted to google search engine it cannot appear on search engine.

Also submitting your sitemap to google search engine will enable google to crawl all your website or blog content and index your content, once your content has been indexed it will start appearing on google search console but this start to appear on the search engine base on the search keyword and also google make use of algorithm to determine the top website with that content base on ranking, comments on the website or blog with that particular search keyword etc.

Haven known what sitemap is all about and how it functions, let’s now proceed on the steps that is involved in adding your website or blog sitemap to google search engine.

How To Submit Your Sitemap


Sign in to Google Search Console  account.
On your Search Console home page, select your website or blog url

Note: If you have not created an account with the google webmaster platform or you have not submitted your website or blog url, your url will not be found. To submit your website to google console follow the procedure here.
After you have selected your website or blog url, in the left sidebar, click Crawl and then Sitemaps.
Proceed by clicking the Add/Test Sitemap button in the top right.
Enter sitemap_index.xml or sitemap.xml into the text box that appears.
Lastly clicking on Submit.

Note: It will take some time for google console to crawl and index your website or blog but after it has been crawled and indexed your website or blog should start appearing in google search engine.
